Rental prices in Dundee have risen faster than anywhere else in the UK, it has been revealed.
A survey by Gumtree Rentsmart found that rents in Dundee for properties advertised on the website rose by an average of 13.52% between the final quarter of 2012 and the same period last year.
Rents for one-bedroom properties in the city rose by nearly a quarter (24%) over the past year, while rent for two-bedroom flats rose by 9%.
There were also double-digit rental rate increases recorded in Swansea (11%) and Essex (10%).
The study also found that Scottish cities have some of the most sought-after rental properties.
In Edinburgh’s Grassmarket there were an average of 25 replies per listing, while in Aberdeen there were 17 replies for every property put up for rent.
Gumtree Rentsmart has been created to track rental price trends and supply across the UK.
Head of classifieds Chris Campbell said: “The tool utilises the vast amount of rental property data we have available, including asking prices, searches and ad replies, to provide useful and up-to-date information about rentals.”
