Post-war professional footballer Norman Ireland has died at the age of 90.
He played outside left for St Johnstone for a season from 1945 before moving to Brechin City.
He also turned out for Airdrie, Forfar Athletic and Dundee United.
His senior career ended when he broke his leg but he joined the junior ranks and scouted for Dundee North End.
He was also involved in amateur football and ran a number of teams including the outfit at the Caledon shipyard where he worked as a welder. He was also a foreman welder at Kestrel Marine in Dundee harbour.
He was raised in Dundee and he went to Rockwell School. Latterly his home was in the Craigiebank area.
He is survived by his wife Mima, daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
