A Dundee man bit and butted his then partner, leaving her bleeding and “hysterical”, a court has heard.
Dwayne Beattie, 33, attacked the woman after she spoke to a former school friend in a pub.
Depute fiscal Vicki Bell said: “They were out socialising and consuming alcohol together in a number of pubs in Dundee.
“In one of those pubs, the complainer had a brief conversation with an old acquaintance from school, which was cut short when the accused approached her and said: ‘We’re going’.”
After the pair got home, Beattie stood “very close” to the woman then butted her.
Miss Bell added: “She can only recall intense pain then blacking out. When she came round, she was sitting at the end of the bed and had blood running down her face from a cut on her left eyebrow.”
The woman said she wanted to leave but Beattie suggested staying and discussing matters later.
Miss Bell said: “After half an hour, the accused went to the toilet and she ran out of the house to a nearby friend’s. She was hysterical and banging on the door.”
Beattie later emailed the woman seven times, apologising and blaming the incident on the consumption of alcohol and drugs.
Gary McIlravey, defending, said: “They had both been drinking and he had taken valium. They had an argument but he can’t remember what it was about, and it developed into a fight.
“He was struck by a bottle, which did not break. He remembers butting her once, but that is all.”
Beattie, of Polepark Road, admitted assaulting the woman on December 27 2013 by butting her and biting her on the face, to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement. Sentence was deferred until Tuesday April 28.
