Dundee advocacy worker in court accused of threatening Disability Assessment Centre staff

A Dundee advocacy worker will stand trial next year accused of shouting and swearing at staff in the city’s Disability Assessment Centre.
Tony Cox denies behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at the centre in Caledonian House, Greenmarket and refusing to leave on Novemner 10, while on bail.
The 53-year-old, of Baxter Park Terrace, was granted bail by Sheriff Tom Hughes ahead of a trial at Dundee Sheriff Court on February 24.
Protesters against Cox’s arrest attended the hearing and previously gathered outside the court during the day handling out leaflets proclaiming ‘advocacy is not a crime.’
Representatives of the Scottish Unemployed Workers’ Network, which Cox is a member of, were joined by Dundee Against Austerity in what they called an ‘act of solidarity’.
