VIDEO: Dundee United legends back Frank Kopel fundraiser

Friends and former Dundee United players joined Frank Kopel and his wife Amanda for a charity bucket collection at Tannadice on Saturday.

The former players were reunited at the Kilmarnock game before they went out in force to help raise over £2,000 for the Frank Kopel Campaign.

Frank, 64, played for United for a decade during the club’s glory years but he has been battling with dementia since 2009.

His supporters have rallied around him and his family as they cope with the illness, which is now well advanced.

The collection was hailed a huge success by organisers, who said the Kilmarnock fans were also hugely supportive and respectful of the fundraiser.

On Sunday many more players will come together with members of the public for a sponsored walk around the track, starting at 1.30pm.

People can walk as much as they would like and former Dundee players Les Barr and Bobby Glennie will also be taking part.

Sponsorship forms available in the Dundee United club shop, the Taxi Club in Rosebank Street and Club 83, St Salvador Street.
