Search continues after man seen falling from Tay Road Bridge

A search is continuing today for a man who is believed to have fallen from the Tay Road Bridge.
The crews of the Broughty Ferry lifeboat and inshore boat and a Royal Navy helicopter were scrambled around midnight after a driver with Tele Taxis saw the man fall and alerted police.
Coastguards from Arbroath, Carnoustie and St Andrews were also called out to assist the search.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Nobody was traced. Inquiries are still ongoing.”
Later, a spokesman added that the man is understood to be in his late 20s.
“There are positive lines in respect of the man’s identity. Officers are in contact with his family and will keep them updated in respect of any developments. His details will not be released at this time.”
A review of CCTV recordings is being carried out to assist the investigation.
A coastguard spokesman said: “We were involved in a search after a man jumped from the Tay Road Bridge, but nothing was found.
“Ourselves and the police got the Royal Navy search helicopter through from Prestwick.”
