A guitar donated by Dundee chart-topping band The View raised £1,000 for charity when it was sold on ebay.
The Scottish Indie band gave the signed guitar used at one of their gigs, and other musical memorabilia to friend Jason Taylor to help him raise money in memory of a friend.
The auction closed at £620, with 50 bids made, but then it was announced the buyer, from just outside Edinburgh, was topping up his bid to £1,000 for Cancer Research UK and Nordoff Robbins music therapy charities.
Jason posted on Facebook: “This is totally unreal! “I have just spoken to the winning bidder of the charity auction.
“His bid of £620 was the top bid in the auction and it’s very big but he’s not giving us £620, he has very, very generously said that he will top up his bid to a massive £1,000 so that both the charities will get £500 each, how amazing is that?”
