New operators are being sought for a prominent Dundee city centre restaurant and wine bar that closed without warning last month.
The Tasting Rooms on Whitehall Crescent is being marketed by Westport Property, which hopes to find a new tenant who can pay the £30,000 annual rent.
Westport director Adam Hutcheson said there had been an encouraging initial response from local and regional operators.
The Tasting Rooms closed without warning on January 11 and was still taking bookings on its last day.
Customers arrived on January 12 to find the door locked and a notice saying: “We regret to inform you that due to circumstances outwith our control and the financial climate The Tasting Rooms are closing permanently. Many thanks for your support over the last three years.”
With its central location, the eaterie was thought to be in a prime position to capitalise on opportunities presented by the £1 billion waterfront redevelopment.
The Tasting Rooms is owned by TR 2011 Ltd, whose two directors and shareholders are David Murdie Smith and Derek Dolan.
Records held at Companies House show that it is still an active company.
They are also the directors and shareholders of Camperdown Leisure Ltd which has the catering franchise at the visitor complex in Camperdown Wildlife Centre.
That venue continues to operate and the city council said it was business as usual at the park’s restaurant.
Mr Smith and Mr Dolan have not responded to our efforts to speak to them about the closure of The Tasting Rooms.
The Dundee accountancy firm where TR 2011 and Camperdown Leisure have their registered offices and which acts as the companies’ auditors have said they are bound by client confidentiality and could not comment.
