Tens of thousands of people could descend on Dundee’s waterfront for a series of concerts every year.
Bosses behind the £1 billion development say they are in discussions with big-name bands about coming to play at the new Slessor Gardens.
Allan Watt, the waterfront project’s director, said the gardens had always been seen as a potential venue for major events.
He said: “There’s scope for a concert venue but we haven’t settled on a plan yet.
“To attract big-name bands you need a 10,000-capacity venue and at Slessor Gardens, with some work, that is just about manageable.
“It’s certainly an option and we’re discussing the options now with bands. It’s a great concert spot.”
The site will host a number of luxury apartments and waterfront chiefs recognise that this could lead to new residents kicking up a fuss about noise and disruption during such an event.
Mr Watt said: “We would be looking at a handful of times a year, but we would need to let people know it’s an event space.”
Meanwhile, people can expect to see the bare bones of the new train station building starting to rise out of the ground later this year.
The project’s senior engineer, Gavin Smith, said: “The railway station is a steel-framed structure and they go up very quickly.
“We’re working on the foundations at the moment and expect the basic building to be there by September.”
Sleeperz, a UK budget hotel company, has previously announced its intention to occupy part of that building.
