An investigation into the death of a baby at Ninewells Hospital is continuing, nearly 18 months after the tragedy.
It continues as the consultant who was suspended following the death appeared recently in front of medical chiefs.
A major investigation was launched last March after the baby died at the Dundee hospital’s maternity unit.
The female staff member was suspended in the aftermath of the death.
An internal review was launched immediately and the Crown Office also took on the case as part of its own probe.
A spokesman for the Crown Office said that the investigation was ongoing.
The consultant who has not been named publicly appeared in front of the General Medical Council last September, and was given a series of conditions on her registration in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
The conditions were imposed until August this year and she faced another hearing in front of the GMC a few weeks ago.
Bosses decided that the conditions, some of which limit where and how she can work, should remain until December 25 this year but will stay subject to review.
NHS Tayside has never made the results of its own internal investigation public and it is not known if the consultant is still working at the hospital.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “The investigation into the death is ongoing and the family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.”
A spokeswoman for NHS Tayside said: “We are unable to discuss matters relating to individual members of staff.”
