A Dundee man has died from a blood clot just 40 minutes before he had an appointment with his doctor.
Donald Morgan, 49, passed away at his home on Strips of Craigie Road, having been due to see his GP about a chest infection.
His son Connor, 20, discovered him at the house where they both lived and performed CPR last Wednesday, but tragically his dad could not be saved.
It later transpired that the father-of-three had died as a result of a blood clot which had travelled from his leg to his lungs.
His family paid tribute to a “light-hearted and funny” man.
Donald’s daughter Dawn McIntosh, 29, said: “We thought he had a chest infection the week before he died and I’d been at him to go to the doctor.
“But he, being a parent, said he was fine. The night before he passed away, he asked me to phone the doctor to make an appointment the next day.
“I phoned the GP at 8am and managed to get an appointment for 10.30am. He passed away at 9.50am.
“Connor found him and did CPR and called an ambulance.
“It was a big shock,” she said.
Donald, who had attended Linlathen High School, was most recently unemployed but had previously worked for McDonald’s, Kestrel Marine and a carpet factory.
The doting grandfather was also a talented comedy writer and had talks with the BBC about writing material for them.
Dawn added: “Writing comedy was what he enjoyed doing the most. He would just write things as they came to him.
“He also loved spending time with his grandkids. The family have just been trying to keep busy,” she said.
Donald is also survived by his 10-year-old son Ryan, sister Jan and grandchildren Rachel, Michael and Robyn.
