Management met union leaders in Dundee to try to solve the dispute affecting city bus services and said their talks would continue for weeks.
More than 100 buses were cancelled on Monday after drivers refused to work overtime the company asked them to do to overcome staffing shortages.
The men behind the wheel say the amount of extra work they are expected to do is excessive, and fears surfaced that they may continue their protest with more cancelled services on Friday.
A spokeswoman for National Express Dundee said on Wednesday night: “Today’s meeting with the trade union was productive and we will continue this dialogue over the coming weeks with the local trade union representatives.
“As a result of the meeting we have issued a notice to staff updating them on our discussions.”
Management would not elaborate on the notice, and Doug Maguire of Unite did not respond to our calls for a comment.
