More than 3,000 people converged on Dundee University Students’ Association (Dusa) on Saturday for Scotland’s largest free anime convention.
DEE-CON 2014 was the biggest in the event’s four-year history as gospel choirs, entertainers and DJs joined for the artists and industry experts for the celebration of animation.
Organised by students and alumni of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, DEE-CON is a fundraiser for the animation degree show in May.

Guest speakers included Professor Kenny Mitchell and Maggie Kosek of Disney Research, games industry veterans Peter Greeves and Phil Harris, freelance illustrator, animator and director Bianca Ansems, Bafta-nominated director Jamie Stone and Zoe Burgess.
The Dundee Comics Expo in the nearby Queen Mother Building featured independent creators showing off their work.
Animation Society president Rossie Stone said: “So many people have wanted to come here and get into the spirit of the event that it’s been absolutely fantastic the biggest and best we’ve had yet.”
The convention was for artists to indulge in their interests with like-minded people.
Many of those present were artists or budding art students who wanted to learn more about games, music, art and animation.
To mark International Table Top Day, an entire floor of Dusa was dedicated to competitions in Pandemic, Vanguard and Battlestar Galactica, among others.
Video games battles raged on retro and contemporary consoles, and students and artists had their portfolios reviewed by leading figures in the animation and comic industry.
A parade of cosplay characters, a performance art where participants wear costumes representing a specific character or idea, brought gasps from the large gathering, and the curtain was brought down by an after party with DJs Momoka and Nanashi.
