A woman cheated death in the early hours of Thursday morning after a wooden post was sent flying through her bedroom window as she slept.
The woman was sleeping in her home in Drumsturdy Road around 3.15 on Thursday morning when a car travelling towards Dundee left the road and went into her neighbour’s garden.
The car also uprooted part of a fence, sending the post flying into the woman’s bedroom, where it hit the wall before finally landing in her lap.
Two other parked cars suffered damage in the collision.
Neighbour Graeme Bletcher said: “It is absolute carnage but we slept through it.
“We got up to feed the baby and saw all the lights outside.”
The driver of the car, 24-year-old Steven Young of High Street, Moniefith, aditted driving at more than four times the legal limit when he appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon.
He pleaded guilty to having a breath test reading of 91 microgrammes. The legal limit is 22.
Young also admitted driving carelessly, causing his car to leave the road and damage a wall and other property.
He will be sentenced on May 7 following the preparation of reports.
The offshore electrician was also disqualified ad interim.
