Reece Balfour is accused of presenting a knife at mother Avril Balfour on July 17. It is alleged that Balfour then threatened to slit her throat during the incident at an address in Dundee’s St Nicholas Place. Balfour, 18, of Haldane Avenue, Dundee, denied the charge against him on summary complaint. Gary McIlravey, defending, said: “He adheres to his not guilty plea and the case is fully prepared for trial.” Depute fiscal Beverley Adam said: “Witnesses have been cited there are two civilians and two police officers in this case.” Sheriff Kenneth McGowan continued the case to a trial later this month.
