hospital porters are continuing to strike as a march brought to an end a third week of industrial action.
Stewards for the Unite union met with health secretary Shona Robison and handed a petition with hundreds of signatures to the SNP branch office.
Porters also alleged they had been underpaid, with even those not taking part in the walkouts having their pay docked.
John Boland, Unite branch secretary said: “People appear to be having pay docked in an arbitrary way, some have had one-quarter or one-fifth deducted and one of our members appears to have had his pay cheque halved.”
He talked about a meeting union members had with Shona Robison, saying: “The meeting we had was constructive, but nothing has yet been agreed.
“This is just a march to raise attention and make another appeal to NHS Tayside to produce the information they claim to have, and to come back to the negotiating table, we’ve had no communication with them since last Thursday.
“The information is clear and we have repeatedly asked NHS Tayside to provide their side of things, which they haven’t.
“We even have a freedom of information request in, but we haven’t heard back yet.”
Support for the strike is high, according to Mr Boland.
He said: “Our petition has hundreds of signatures, there’s been huge support from local people and from across Scotland.
“We want to get NHS Tayside back around the table and negotiate an outcome to this.”
The rally came amid news that a petition had been seen by the Court of Session to declare the strike illegal.
Colin Cooper addressed the gathering, he said: “I thought the legislation was supposed to give workers rights, not take them away.
“We have laid down terms, and this strike is legal.
“You’re going to win this, never give up.”
Jim McGovern, Labour MP for Dundee West, whose constituency covers both hospitals at which porters are currently taking industrial action, stood behind the workers.
He said: “They are on the right side of this argument, and I’m hopeful common sense will prevail, and show that you cannot treat Dundee workers this way.
“If rumours about the pay deductions are accurate then that is deplorable.”
