Traders on Lochee Road in Dundee have voiced concerns over city council plans to close part of it for up to three weeks.
The section between Tullideph Road and Dudhope Terrace will close from April 20 for resurfacing but locals are worried about the impact it could have on day-to-day life and passing trade for the shops.
Tahir Mahmood, 45, owner of City Booze, said: “My shop will definitely be affected by this.
“I worry that I’ll be in trouble if it is closed for three weeks 90% of my business is passing trade.
“I haven’t received any official notice of it yet, which is surprising.”
Alison Boath, 35, co-owner of Stewart’s Bakery on Lochee Road, said: “Depending on how much of the road is closed at any one time, it could really affect us.
“We make cakes of all sizes and a lot of our customers park outside and load them into their car.
“We haven’t had any letters or anything, which is terrible,” she said.
Resident Euan Smith, 29, said: “I think the work needs done because there are a lot of accidents around here.
“I hope part of the work includes repainting the lines to make it clearer for drivers.”
A diversion incorporating City Road, Pentland Avenue, Balgay Road, Bellfield Street and Hawkhill will be in place.
The southbound carriageway of Lochee Road will not be affected.
