Five rescued after late-night fire at Dundee Salvation Army hostel

Five people were rescued by firefighters following a late-night blaze at a Dundee homeless shelter.
Fire crews were called to the Salvation Army hostel on Ward Road at 11.43pm after a fire broke out in a third-floor bedroom.
Appliances from Macalpine Road and Kingsway fire stations both attended the incident.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led five people from the building to safety.
They were then given treatment for smoke inhalation by paramedics.
Salvation Army service manager Pamela Grant one bedroom had been damaged by the fire.
She said: “One room has been smoke damaged but everyone was safe.The staff did their job and everything went according to the emergency plan.”
A Salvation Army spokesperson said: “We can confirm that emergency services were called to Strathmore Lodge Lifehouse this morning following a small fire at the centre.
“A full evacuation of the building was carried out safely as our highly trainer staff responded quickly to stop the fire spreading.
“We would like to thank out staff for ensuring our service remains fully operational.”
