Dundee Sheriff Court.
A Dundee man who assaulted his partner of 18 years has been ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
The city’s sheriff court heard that Jeffrey Claxton punched the woman before grabbing her by the throat and pinning her down following an argument on January 1.
Theo Finlay, defending Claxton, said: “It was an argument that became physical.
“This is an appalling incident regardless of what happened.
“The relationship was coming to an end and it is clear they are better off apart.
“Clearly an incident such as this could merit imprisonment.”
Claxton, 39, of Calderwood Close, admitted assaulting the woman by repeatedly punching her on the head, grabbing her by the throat, pinning her down and compressing her neck to her injury.
