Long-delayed taxi marshals scheme to hit Dundee ranks within weeks
ByThe Courier Reporter
A long-awaited taxi scheme has been given the ‘full support’ of Dundee City Council and will come into force this month.
The marshals will be at the Hawkhill/Brown Street taxi rank on Friday and Saturday evenings between 11pm and 4am, with an increased presence over the festive period.
As revealed in The Courier last month, the city’s taxi drivers previously bemoaned the delays in getting the scheme up and running as 1,300 drivers had paid £30 into it.
Now, 18 months later, the council is to make good on its promise.
Licensing committee convener Stewart Hunter said: “More details will be announced in due course and I am sure this scheme will get the full support it deserves.”
