A man who had hidden £4,000 worth of heroin in his person had to be rushed to hospital, a court heard.
Steven Bernard Mitchell, 34, of Perth Prison, admitting dealing the drug when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court. The court heard how the drugs were discovered after Mitchell took ill in a police cell.
The court heard he later vomited and soiled himself, leading to the recovery of 37.5g of diamorphine, with an estimated street value of £3,810.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson said: “On June 6 the accused was in a police cell after being detained.
“He was checked on at 8.40pm and officers noticed he was lying on the floor, snoring loudly and sweating profusely.”
His levels of consciousness were deteriorating so he was rushed to Ninewells Hospital.
Ms Robertson continued: “He vomited and produced a packet of brown powder containing 14.9g from his throat. He also soiled himself and 14.1g was produced from his anus.”
Several texts from people trying to source the drug were later discovered on his phone.
Mitchell also admitted a separate offence of driving without a license or insurance and failing to stop for police at Kingsway Retail Park in Dundee.
The case was continued until September 24 for other matters to call before Sheriff Way.
