Tony Blair has given £1,000 to Labour’s candidate for Dundee East in this year’s general election.
The former prime minister has given the money to 106 of the party’s target seats across the UK, including Lesley Brennan’s bid to oust Stewart Hosie.
Mr Blair wrote to candidates: “As one of our key seat candidates you know better than most the scale of the challenge we face, but I have every confidence that with your drive, determination and organisational skills, you will deliver a successful local campaign that will also see our party returned to government.”
SNP depute leader Mr Hosie said: “Labour in Scotland are already paying the price for being joined at the hip with the Tories and this revelation that candidates in Scotland are being bankrolled by Tony Blair only underlines that Labour simply can’t be trusted. Tony Blair’s bad money will do Labour in Scotland no good.”
