Two Dundee museums have been awarded more than £67,000 by Museums Galleries Scotland.
The national body announced funding for both Dundee University Museum Services and Leisure and Culture Dundee.
The Dundee services are just two of 15 museums and galleries across Scotland which will share £450,000.
Leisure and Culture Dundee will use £35,000 to purchase a suite of museum quality display cases which will allow them and Tayside Museum Forum members to share and display local and national collections across multiple venues.
Lord Provost Bob Duncan, chairman of Leisure and Culture Dundee, said: “We are grateful for this funding which will open up new opportunities for displays of the heritage and culture of Dundee as well as enabling various touring exhibitions to come to The McManus.
“It will further build on the successful redevelopment of The McManus that took place a few years ago.
“I am sure the people of Dundee and visitors to the city will welcome this development enthusiastically.
“It will allow small bespoke displays at locations like the Collections Unit to complement projects and workshop events, and enable items relating to the wonderful history of the Caird Hall to be shown at the hall itself,” he added.
Dundee University Museum Services will use the £32,407 it has been awarded to replace its obsolete museum database with a newer version.
Curator Matthew Jarron said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been awarded this grant. Our current database is over 20 years old and long past its sell-by date.
“The new system will not only allow us to keep better track of our objects but also provide public access to all our data, significantly increasing the research value of the collections.”
