Dundee councillor Jimmy Black has thrown his weight behind plans to build a cafe on top of Dundee Law.
The famous beauty spot is set to benefit from a £350,000 investment later this year.
It is thought the cash will be used to improve signs on the law as well as improving paths for walkers.
The idea of opening a cafe has also been floated and Mr Black has now backed the proposal.
He did, however, warn that the war memorial at the summit of the Law must be respected, regardless of any future developments.
He said: “It is a war memorial so it’s important that it is respected.
“But when you get to the top of the Law you do want a coffee and there is none there.
“It would not need to be a building, it could be a kiosk and it does not have to be right at the top.
“There are ways of doing these things and the Law is a big space and it is something we should look into, but there are no specific plans to do this at the moment.”
The SNP councillor for Coldside has previously called for improvements to be made to the Law and claimed that it has been neglected in recent years.
Mr Black further revealed that he wishes to maximise the Law’s potential so it can become one of the city’s top tourist attractions.
He explained: “We want people who visit the V&A Museum, for example, to go and see some of the city’s other magnificent attractions, among which is the Law.
“We want to make it more accommodating.
He continued: “Around the sides it really is wild land within the city.
“There’s things like the Whale Bone Arch and the World War Two pillbox, an old concrete bunker.
“There is also the most unfeasible railway tunnel in the world and you wonder how the trains ever got there.
“But there’s also a cultural life there and we have a ceremony for Armistice Day, Michael Marra has written a song about the Law and there are so many stories to tell.”
