An Angus dad has taken his first steps in a marathon fundraising effort for the special care baby unit (SCBU) at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Andrew Muir, 30, from Arbroath, has vowed to run a half-marathon every month from February to October to raise money for SCBU after medical staff at the ward saved the life of his premature son.
He has completed his first race, which started at RAF Kinloss and finished at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray. The new dad said he was delighted to have got the mammoth task under way.
“This was my first competitive half-marathon in an effort to raise money for SCBU and perhaps one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had,” Andrew said.
He gave a special thank you to his sponsors, including TAZA, Run 4 IT, Tshirtprinting Ltd, Bellrock, Party Time, Richards Cuttings, Tracy Booth Sports Therapist and Dundee Sweatshop.
