Ricky Ross rolls back the years with intimate Dundee concert
ByThe Courier Reporter
Deacon Blue frontman Ricky Ross played a special hometown gig in Dundee last night.
The singer and radio presenter performed a unique solo show in the city’s Steeple Church.
All proceeds from the event went to the church’s youth charity, the Hot Chocolate Trust.
Back in the early 1980s, before the success of Deacon Blue, Ricky was one of the first community youth workers at the Steeple.
Dave Close, director of Hot Chocolate Trust, said: “We are thrilled that Ricky wants to support our work.
“As well as being one of Scotland’s best singer-songwriters he has been committed to social justice issues around the world for decades.”
The Hot Chocolate Trust was set up in 2001.
The grassy area in front of The Steeple Church was a popular gathering point for young people so the church decided to begin an outreach project to help and support young people in Dundee.
