A Dundee business owner who has been the victim of repeated vandalism attacks fears his company is being targeted as part of an ongoing campaign.
City landscape firm the Garden Landscape Company has suffered damage to vehicles and expensive equipment at various addresses throughout the city since late October.
In the latest attack a £4,000 vehicle was set on fire and had its windows smashed.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, has forced the firm’s owner, who did not want to be named, into putting work on hold.
He said: “I think we are being targeted. We’ve had vehicles attacked at different addresses. The people involved know where our vehicles park and where our employees live.
“We’ve been trading under different guises for about 10 to 12 years and moved into here about three years ago.
“We haven’t experienced anything like this. This is something new.
“I have six employees and some of them have been here for seven, eight years.
“Until now we’ve mainly had windscreens broken and tyres slashed.
“But this morning my employees came into work and discovered that the vans had been smashed up and that a piece of machinery had been set on fire.
“The fire’s serious, that’s an escalation. To my mind, it’s like: ‘you’re not paying attention to what we’re warning here’.
“The vehicle targeted is a write-off. It’s quite an old machine but it’s probably worth about £4,000.
“It’s a crucial thing in the yard. We can’t move anything, we can’t move men, materials.
“It’s going to start draining resources. We may have to look at relocating.”
The owner revealed that the business was now prepared to offer a reward for information.
He said: “One of my architects has two new young children. He’s very worried about what’s happening.
“You can have all the protection in the world but unless you catch them red-handed I’m not sure what more we can do.
“I’m going to offer a financial award. Somebody out there will know something.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland is continuing inquiries into incidents of vandalism to three vehicles in connection with the Garden Landscape Company that have happened at various locations in Dundee since October 30.
“Police also received a report of further incidents of vandalism at Edison Place, Dundee, this morning and inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.”
