Builder Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application to Angus Council for permission in principle for 380 homes at The Grange in Monifieth.
This application follows a community engagement event that was held in September, and Andrew Roberts, of Taylor Wimpey, said the proposals reflect suggestions made by local stakeholders and general feedback from the public who attended the event as far as possible.
“Our development design now proposes one-storey homes on larger plots along much of the southern edge of the development, and we’ve also allowed for more green space throughout.
“There is a larger park providing improved connections to Ethiebeaton and along both the eastern and southern boundaries in line with comments received from local residents.
“We’ve also proposed a wider path along Victoria Street that will accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists.
“The Grange site is a logical extension to Monifieth. Our proposal for around 380 new homes aims to offer a broad mix of private new homes as well as affordable housing where there is currently a significant shortfall.”
Rival housebuilder Barratt want to construct 300 homes in the site next door, north of Ashludie Hospital.
