A little part of Munich will arrive in Dundee City Square on Thursday as five days of Oktoberfest fun gets under way.
The festival, which will until Sunday, will feature a giant 1500-person marquee tent and traditional German music played for revellers, who will have the chance to enjoy traditional German beer whilst dressed in traditional Dirndl and Lederhosen attire.
Around 8000 people are expected to visit the festival.
Having run similar events throughout Scotland, organiser Carsten Raun has high hopes for the festival’s debut in Dundee.
“Oktoberfest boasts a long tradition in Germany and is popular with millions of people worldwide,” he said. “We’re really excited about bringing Oktoberfest to Dundee for the first time this year.
“The festival is all about getting friends and family together to sing along and join in the fun and from what I’ve heard Dundee likes a good party.
“We expect to create a small part of Munich in the heart of Dundee.”
Entry is free on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, with tickets for Friday’s celebrations costing £5 and Saturday’s gathering costing £10 respectively.
