From snow to sunshine, Scotland’s weather has lurched from one extreme to the other this week.
Unexpected blizzards on Monday night caused havoc on the roads while heavy snowfall continued to cause disruption in Highland Perthshire om Wednesday, with several vehicles stuck in snow on the A93 until they could be rescued.
But just a little bit farther south, much of Tayside and Fife basked in glorious sunshine.
However, the Met Office warned that such balmy conditions are not likely to last long and that Tayside and Fife will likely endure gale force winds on Saturday.
A spokesman said: “It’s a bit of a mixed bag, I’m afraid.
“On Saturday you will be feeling the effects of low pressure, but the rain is going to mostly stick to the north-westerly parts of the country.
“It is going to be quite mild in terms of temperature – about 11 degrees Celsius, which is pretty good – but there will be gale force gusts in the afternoon so it will feel a lot colder.”
He added that Sunday the wind will die down but temperatures are likely to peak at eight or nine degrees Celsius.
