A musical written and performed by Jericho House, a unit for recovering alcoholics, is set to play in Dundee.
Written by Claire Bee and Robbie Ward, Drink! The Musical casts the recovering alcoholics of the centre, as well as their friends and family and staff of the centre.
The play focuses on how drink can affect people’s lives, and with a cast of 30, aged between seven and 81, many of the performers are turning their hand to theatre for the first time.
Claire Bee, writer and director, said: “One of the best projects I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in the cast are so inspiring and amazing.
“Every single member has pushed their personal boundaries and stepped out of their comfort zone to bring the very best to the stage.”
Jericho House manager David McEnroy said: “To see others recover is an amazing experience and for me the play takes everyone involved further along that road.
“We can escape this horrid illness and show others how we have done this; the play encourages the whole lot of us to get in it together.”
Drink! The Musical debuts at the Bonar Hall at 7.30pm next Thursday.
