Motorists are being warned of delays towards Dundee after a driver smashed into the barrier on the Tay Road Bridge.
The man in his 20s was rushed to Ninewells after his car hit the side of the bridge and ended up on its roof.
The bridge was closed for two hours following the incident, which happened at around midnight and one lane of the northbound carriageway remained closed on Thursday morning.
Almost 20m of metal vehicle barrier has been damaged so for safety reasons and repair work a stretch of the inside lane will remain closed until the middle of next week.
A spokesman for the Tay Road Bridge said: “Work to repair and replace the significant damage to the bridge’s permanent safety barriers will start on Friday and is expected to be completed by the middle of next week.
“Signs warning drivers of the possible delays and lane closure have been put up.”
