Planning permission has been granted for a hydrotherapy centre in West Marketgait.
Clearwater Hydrotherapy intend to take over an office at No 154 and create a treatment pool, hydro-physio treatment room, therapy room, meeting room, cafe and changing facilities.
A council planning officer said policies on Dundee’s cultural quarter supported developments that contributed to leisure and business activities and had the potential to attract visitors.
“This is a use which is well suited to this edge of centre location, close to transportation links, other leisure uses and visitor accommodation. The site is accessible and involves the use of a B-listed building,” the officer said.
There used to be a garage nearby and a condition of planning consent is that the council will be notified should any ground contamination be found during construction.
Consent has also been granted to Mr G Berry to demolish an old cottage and workshop buildings at Emmock Woods Grove and replace them with two four-bedroom houses.
“The houses have been sensitively located and positioned on their respective plots so as not to prevent the future development of the area of open space to the south of the application site,” a planning officer said.
