The success of the X7 ‘superbus’ coastal service between Dundee and Aberdeen has led to a £750,000-plus investment in the fleet.
The new investment for the coastal service was revealed at a meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Bus Forum, where strong views were expressed for better services in the area.
Senior Stagecoach staff were there to listen to 26 members of the public and five councillors.
Councillor Ian Mollison said: “The good news is that new, bigger X7 buses will be running on the Aberdeen-Stonehaven-Dundee route from late November.
“Stagecoach is purchasing eight £95,000 coaches to run on the A90 and further south.
“They will seat 62 people, compared to the current 48-seaters. Furthermore, instead of 15 journeys a day, we will see 17 journeys.”
