Local youth groups have eagerly thrown themselves into The Courier’s minibus competition.
Our giveaway, which offers local voluntary groups the chance to win a brand new 17-seater minibus, has already proven to be a hit with groups throughout Tayside and Fife.
The new-style Ford Transit on offer has plenty of luggage space, with increased leg room and height making it perfect for long journeys as well as short.
Entrants need to collect 50 tokens to stand a chance of winning but can increase their chances by sending in as many as their supporters can collect.
Competition for the keys to the bus is proving to be fierce with a number of local groups having already collected dozens of tokens.
Girlguiding Dundee’s Ramanee Bengough praised The Courier for helping local youth groups and said she hoped the guides’ efforts proved successful.
She said: “We have as many as 1500 girls across our group and we want them all to have an equal opportunity.
“We usually rely on parents to drive the girls about, but that is obviously easier for the parents with vehicles.
“I think it is fantastic that companies like The Courier are supporting voluntary organisations like ourselves.
“It is very important that initiatives like this are offered.
“All of our girls deserve a fair opportunity to enjoy activities and having a minibus would help us do that.”
Dundee Boys’ Brigade Company Captain Nigel Ferguson said: “We have three sections here in Dundee with boys aged from six to 18.
“We have regular meetings and often take the boys camping to the Angus Glens and places like that.
“When you’re stuck in a church hall all the time you can become a bit stuck for what to do.
“Having the bus would allow us to spread our wings. We usually rely on parents taking the boys in their cars which can be a bit of a pain for them.
“We’re hoping that all the parents will be buying The Courier to get more tokens because I know there’s quite a few groups that will be entering and we need to compete with them.
“I think we have around 50 tokens so far so we are getting there.”
Entry forms for the competition will be printed in the paper and will be provided with your registration pack.
Tokens will be printed in the Courier until October 30.
