Regeneration making Dundee more attractive to criminals, says police chief
ByThe Courier Reporter
A senior police officer has said that Dundee has become a target for organised crime due to the city’s regeneration projects.
Speaking at a Crime against Business event delivered by Police Scotland and the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, Inspector Frank McCann of National Safer Communities said that the money in the Dundee economy generated recently by the waterfront development and other projects around the city meant there was an increased risk of cyber criminals operating.
He said: “In terms of Dundee, there is a lot of regeneration work. All the building work means there’s money coming through.
“If there is more money coming through then people will be being targeted in that area.”
