An angry mum told her daughter’s former boyfriend she had sent two cars of thugs after him and if they did not find him they would hurt his mother, Dundee Sheriff Court heard on Friday
Avril Balfour, 35, of St Nicholas Place, admitted sending a Facebook message threatening his family with violence on October 5.
The court heard that the incident took place after Balfour’s daughter was in a fight with the complainer’s new girlfriend.
The complainer is also currently on petition accused of brandishing a knife at Balfour’s daughter.
Depute fiscal Alan Kempton told the court the offensive message was lengthy but contained abusive threats including that he was ‘a dead man walking’.
It went on to say: “I swear that I will do a heavy sentence for you.
“I have two cars full of people looking for you and if they can’t get you they are going to do your maw.”
Defence solicitor Jim Lafferty said that Balfour did not have the ‘resources’ to carry out her threat.
He said: “She was angry at the time and didn’t really mean it. She just wanted to scare him.
“Her daughter is now 15 and had been the complainer’s girlfriend for six months. She does not have the resources to have two cars full of people go out looking for someone.
“This is a woman who was told about an incident when a knife was presented at her daughter and lost it,” Mr Lafferty said.
Sheriff Rafferty deferred sentence until December 16 to see if Balfour could “control herself” and be of good behaviour.
He told Balfour that if she became any more involved in the matter, or the case against the complainer, she could expect to be dealt with “very seriously” by the court.
