An elderly woman suffered fractures to her lower back and pelvis after being knocked over by a disabled man in a mobility scooter in Broughty Ferry.
It has been claimed the man then headed off in his silver vehicle, ignoring three people who gave chase to tell him what he had done. The incident happened on the pavement in Brook Street near the Clydesdale Bank about 11.20am on Friday.
The elderly woman, a grandmother, was knocked over in a scene witnessed by shocked pedestrians and a shopkeeper. An ambulance was called but the woman declined to go to Ninewells Hospital.
However, her discomfort worsened and she was later taken to hospital, where she was found to have a fractured tailbone, a small broken bone in her pelvis and a chipped bone in her shoulder.
The woman’s granddaughter has posted a message about the incident on Facebook and has appealed for the public to come forward with information to catch the culprit.
She says: “He knew what he had done…this happened outside a hairdresser next to the Clydesdale Bank.
“I would appreciate anyone and everyone passing this message on to friends and family who may live around Broughty Ferry who may know who this man is (police believe him to be a local man) or may have witnessed the incident.
“My gran is going to be suffering months of pain and a long recuperation. Please help me find the man who did this to her.”
She urged anyone with information to send a private message to her or call the police.
