A couple romped in broad daylight on a bench beside a busy dual carriageway directly outside a Dundee office block.
An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named, were spotted by a worker using a photocopier at Compass House, in Dundee’s Riverside Drive.
The male covered the girl’s head with a jacket while she performed a sex act on him as they sat on a bench outside the building at 3pm on June 19 last year.
The bench sits on a path overlooking the River Tay near Dundee city centre, yards from a Tesco superstore and the office building that houses the Scottish Social Services Council.
A sheriff told the pair: “It is hard to think of anywhere less private than Riverside Drive at three in the afternoon.”
Fiscal depute Trina Sinclair told Dundee Sheriff Court a stunned office worker spotted the two.
She said: “The worker called a couple of colleagues to have a look and see what they made of it and they were also of the impression the couple were having sex.
“They saw accused Anderson covering her head with a jacket.
“They contacted police and the couple were then seen sitting on the bench side by side.
“A security guard at the locus approached and asked them to move on.
“Police attended and reviewed CCTV.
“They attended the girl’s house on August 19 and she confirmed she had been with (the male) that day and admitted engaging in sexual activity.”
The teenagers pleaded guilty to a charge of public indecency.
Solicitor Ian Houston, for the girl, said: “She’s never been in trouble before.”
Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports.
He said: “You are both over 16 and whatever you do in private with consent is entirely your business.
“It is hard to think of anywhere less private than Riverside Drive, next to a block of offices at three in the afternoon.
“A block of offices full of people just getting on with their work and a bench on a public walkway which is heavily used by amongst other people, those who take their children for walks.
“The courts concern with this offence is not the morality, but with the offence which you are liable to cause to folk who just want to get on with their ordinary business by forcing your own private activities upon them.
“For that reason I take this matter rather seriously – it showed a complete disregard for the feelings of others.”
