The owner of a Broughty Ferry launderette destroyed in a massive blaze has vowed it will reopen and customers will not lose out.
Forensic scientists were still sifting through the debris of the Grossi’s Ferry Launderette in Gray Street on Wednesday to determine the cause of the fire that tore through the shop in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
It is not thought to have been suspicious.
Fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent businesses, but the launderette and all the clothes inside were destroyed by the inferno.
It is the second time in just over 10 years that the launderette has burned down.
Owner Michael Grossi has vowed to reopen the premises as soon as possible.

He said it will be next week before the full extent of the damage and the value of the garments destroyed in the blaze is known.
But he said he hoped customers would be reimbursed for any losses within a matter of weeks.
Mr Grossi said: “The insurance adjusters will be here on Monday and until then we are taking information from customers and they have all been really sympathetic.
“I know that when this happened previously the insurance company was really good and most people were compensated in a few weeks.”
He added: “We are definitely going to reopen and everybody will be looked after.”
The blaze has left one amateur football club facing scramble for kits ahead of their matches this week.
Among the damaged stock was the team shirts of Barnhill AFC Football Club, which were valued at more than £2,000.
The fire has left the club, which runs a first and second team, scrambling for jerseys for both this weekend’s ties.
Co-manager Ian Davidson, 54, said: “I am obviously sorry to hear of the damage to the laundry service and relieved no one was injured.
“When we heard the news, we realised the club had two full sets of football strips, rain jackets for the substitutes and goalkeeping tops at the launderette. We have potentially lost £2,000 worth of kit.
“Committee members have been raiding through their garages for old kits but I hope we don’t have to send the lads out in their boxer shorts on Saturday.”
