Rail services through Dundee are back up and running after damage caused when a freight train derailed. ScotRail engineers have been working to repair the damage done to the tracks in the incident which took place in the early hours of Monday morning. The accident caused major disruption to people travelling between Aberdeen and Edinburgh/Glasgow with services terminating at Dundee and Carnoustie. But the firm has today confirmed the work has been completed and the line is open. The spokesman said: “Once the wagons were out of the way we found the damage done to the tracks was significant. “There was also a piece of the switch that needed repaired.” He said the location of the incident had caused some difficulty but the cause of the accident is still being investigated.
