A raging taxi driver tailed another motorist through the streets of Dundee because he wanted to fight him over a minor traffic incident.
Gary Middleton launched a foul-mouthed tirade after he cut up fellow motorist Robert Whelan at a junction.
Mr Whelan gesticulated at the cabbie – who flew into a rage.
Middleton then pulled up alongside Mr Whelan and began threatening him and challenging him to fight.
Mr Whelan tried to pull out – only for Whelan to stop him passing.
Mr Whelan eventually got past – prompting Middleton to follow him, tailgating the other motorist on Arbroath Road.
Fiscal depute Joanne Smith told Dundee Sheriff Court the incident happened around 9pm on June 12 last year, as Mr Whelan gave a friend a lift home.
Middleton, 33, of Balunie Street, admitted he conducted himself in a disorderly manner by shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence towards Robert Whelan, challenging him to fight, following him closely in a car and committing a breach of the peace.
Solicitor Jim Laverty, defending, told the court Middleton was no longer in employment as a taxi driver.
He said: “At the time of this incident he was under significant stress.”
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence until April for good behaviour, a supplementary social work report and to call with another case against Middleton.
