A Dundee United star has clarified a remark he made on Twitter, after he was accused of trivialising road safety.
Gary Mackay-Steven, a prominent player at the club, originally wrote on the social media site: “Pretty sure I could drive the A9 with my eyes closed. Might try it.”
However, 22 hours later he updated his Twitter feed, writing: “Wasn’t being serious yesterday btw [by the way]. Obviously I would never drive with my eyes shut.”
The Courier understands that Mr Mackay-Steven regularly uses the road to visit his home town of Thurso.
Both club and MrMackay-Steven declined to comment.
