A Dundee taxi driver suffered a neck injury when a passenger attempted to rob him on Sunday.
Police say the 52-year-old was parked in his silver Fiat Diablo people carrier outside the Pearl of Hong Kong takeaway on Arbroath Road at about 11.30pm when a man entered his cab and asked to be taken to Craigie Drive.
When they got there the man grabbed the taxi driver and threatened him before trying to make off with cash. However, he fled empty handed after the driver managed to summon help.
Police say the taxi driver suffered a small cut to his neck but did not require hospital treatment.
Officers are now appealing for information, particularly from a man who came to the driver’s aid shortly after the attack.
The attacker is described as being between 25 and 35, 5ft 7in, slim, and was wearing a navy blue hooded top or jacket and dark jogging bottoms with white markings down the left leg.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
