Pizza shovel assault woman back in dock after attacking her son
ByRichard Watt
A Tayside woman who made national headlines following a pizza shovel assault in an Angus takeaway has appeared in court over attacking her son.
Dalgit Din threw a brandy glass at Shahzaz Bobby Din over an argument about free drinks at his Arbroath hotel on February 18 last year.
The 65-year-old appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court and admitted a “disproportionate” assault at the Cliffburn Hotel.
The court heard Din, of Arbroath Road, Dundee, had two previous convictions.
She achieved internet notoriety in August 2014 when she admitted hitting Deborah Williamson with a metal pizza shovel in the Spice of Life takeaway on December 27 the year before.
A video of the Arbroath assault was uploaded to YouTube and was featured in The Courier and then UK press.
Sentence was deferred to March 31 for the preparation of criminal justice social work reports and her bail was continued.
