A construction worker from the Dundee area has tragically died after falling ill at a building site.
The 39-year-old collapsed while working at the site of the Westhill shopping centre expansion near Aberdeen on Tuesday.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to hospital but later died.
Investigations are continuing into the man’s death but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
He was for a company sub-contracted to construction firm Barr at the time.
Barr Construction confirmed: “A member of one of our sub-contractor’s staff fell ill on site and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he later died.”
The spokesman said the man had not suffered work-related injuries but that the site had closed down for 24 hours as a mark of respect.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers were made aware of the death of a 39-year-old man from the Dundee area, who collapsed while working on a construction site in Westhill.
“As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
A Health and Safety Executive spokeswoman said the organisation was “aware” of the incident and was making inquiries.
