Axed Muirfield Contracts workers will have their first chance to meet prospective new employers at a hastily arranged jobs seminar in Dundee on Tuesday.
Almost 260 workers and more than 100 self-employed contractors found themselves out of work last week after Muirfield collapsed and administrators confirmed nothing could be done to revive the business.
The Scottish Government’s Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) team has been drafted in and affected workers have been invited to a session with their advisers at the Kingsway campus of Dundee and Angus College between 10am and noon.
However, the scale of the event has since widened with Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC) inviting prospective employers to attend to meet workers face-to-face.
It is understood that BAM Construction – the contractor tasked with building the £80 million V&A design museum at Dundee’s waterfront – is not able to attend the meeting but the firm is aware of Muirfield’s demise and is keen to engage with laid-off workers.
Anyone who would like further information on tomorrow’s event can contact DACC on 01382 228545.
