The first Scottish Organ Donation/Transplant Awareness 5k/10k Race in memory of Ronnie McIntosh will be held in Camperdown Park in Dundee on October 20.
With two weeks until the race, people are being encouraged to dig out their trainers and support the event, which has been organised by NHS Tayside and Eventfull Management to raise awareness of organ donation and transplants.
The entry fee is £10 and entrants must be aged 15 years and over to take part. The race, which can be run, jogged or walked but due to the uneven terrain, the route is not accessible for wheelchairs.
Ronnie, the recipient of a kidney transplant, was an active fundraiser and tireless campaigner for organ donation but died earlier this year.
The Hawkhill Harrier lost lower limbs but returned to his passion of running. He completed the 2011 Glasgow 10k Race accompanied by his transplant surgeon.
The Dundee Race is supported by NHS Tayside Organ and Tissue Donation Committee, Tayside Patients’ Kidney Associations and the charity Revival.
