Dundee Rotary responds to ShelterBox appeal for Syria

Rotary in Dundee has responded to a national Syria Refugee Appeal by ShelterBox.
The Rotary Club of Dundee, the Rotary Club of Abertay and the Claverhouse Rotary Club are sending three ShelterBoxes to the area.
These boxes each contain a tent and sleeping bags, a wood-burning stove and basic cooking equipment, water purification and tools.
Each box can provide shelter and essentials for a family of up to 10 for six months.
Tim Heilbronn, president of the Rotary Club of Dundee, said: “ShelterBox asked all Rotary Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland to undertake collections in support of the crisis, which has seen over two million refugees fleeing Syria, and over four million people remain displaced within the country.
“The majority are in desperate need of shelter and other vital aid, leaving their homes with just the few possessions they can carry. With winter just around the corner, the need now is greater than ever.
“I am delighted that thanks to the generosity of the Dundee public, and with the support of my colleagues, John Picken, president of Abertay, and Brian Bullions, president of Claverhouse, Rotary is able to help.”
