A luxury lodge at the Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort has been destroyed in a fire.
No one was injured and police are investigating the cause of the blaze which ripped through one of the buildings.
Phil Mulholland, owner of the resort, said: “We are gutted and shocked about what has happened.
“The loss of a lodge is a serious concern for us because they are almost always completely booked up.
“At this stage we do not know how the fire started but, hopefully, the fire service and the police can get to the bottom of what caused it.
“We will get the lodge rebuilt as soon as it is practical.”
The alarm was raised at 7.30am yesterday and three crews attended.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered the building was “well alight”.
More than three hours later, two fire crews remained at the scene to dampen down the area.
Watch manager Terry Whyte, of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We believe there were people staying in the lodge but there are no injuries.”
